A note from the school founder...

Bodymechanics School

Greetings! I am so excited about your interest in the field of massage therapy! Being a massage therapist has changed my life in amazing ways, and I know it will be an adventure for you, too.

The Bodymechanics School curriculum provides advanced educational content and techniques that combine to create exceptional massage practitioners. Our comprehensive curriculum, along with the student clinic and externship programs, will provide real-life experiences that help to acquaint the student with potential career options.

At the Bodymechanics School, you will find a unique combination of theory and technique. Whether you are looking for medical massage, deep tissue, structural bodywork, sports or relaxation massage, you will find our program to be balanced and fun.

I created this school because there was a need for a massage school that went beyond just what was necessary to pass the national exam. We are creating massage therapists that are second-to-none and among the best in the nation.

We are a warm, caring and professional school. If you are unsure about which school is for you, I would be glad to meet with you personally. Just call and schedule an appointment. Ask us about our one-day introductory workshops, too. There is no better way to determine if this field is the right one for you.

I look forward to meeting you in person.

Who We Are...

Our mission is to create exceptional massage practitioners with a solid foundation in advanced bodywork techniques. At the Bodymechanics School this is more than a slogan, it is our primary goal and the emphasis of our curriculum. By the time you graduate you will have gained the necessary skills and experience to become a well respected member of the healthcare profession.2Our graduates are in high demand because of their advanced skills, knowledge of injury treatment techniques and their ability to positively affect the lives of their clients. The Bodymechanics School of Myotherapy & Massage curriculum focuses on well established massage theory, advanced treatment techniques and a broad understanding of the human body. This emphasis maximizes the students' educational foundation and ensures their excellence as a Licensed Massage Practitioner (LMP). While specializing in deep tissue and injury treatment techniques, the Bodymechanics School incorporates a diverse blend of bodywork styles resulting in the creation of a comprehensively trained massage practitioner. Our comprehensive course prepares you to succeed as a massage practitioner, providing excellent bodywork, and achieving consistent and lasting results with your clients. The Bodymechanics School approach is neither specifically "traditional" nor "alternative." Rather, our program is a bridge between the chemical / surgery dependant medical philosophies prevalent in our society, and the holistic beliefs encompassing the bodywork field. Washington State classifies massage practitioners as "ancillary medical providers," and, in fact, graduates of the Bodymechanics School are fully trained to provide a wide variety of therapeutic bodywork modalities from relaxation and spa-based massage to structural and injury treatment. The learning environment at the Bodymechanics School is fun and stimulating. While some students may be concerned about returning to an academic environment after being away from school for a while, they soon find that our curriculum is designed for student success and our teachers and staff are eager to help. Our teaching staff is composed of experienced professionals in their respective healthcare fields, many of whom maintain successful practices of their own.

Curriculum

Our licensing course is an intensive and comprehensive educational program. Upon satisfying all graduation requirements, you will receive a diploma and be prepared and qualified to take the National Licensing Exam, now required for licensing in Washington State. Upon successfully passing the National Licensing Exam and paying the required licensing fee, you are eligible to become a Washington State Licensed Massage 1Practitioner (LMP). While Washington law requires our curriculum to be at least 500 hours and span at least six months in duration, we have expanded our program to 860 hours over a twelve-month period. This gives you the time needed to develop your skills under the supervision of experienced instructors. Mark Twain once said, “I have never let my schooling interfere with my education.” Simply put, schools can get in the way of the learning process.

At the Bodymechanics School, each subject is taught considering numerous learning styles. Whether you are an auditory, visual or kinesthetic learner, we'll make each subject understandable, effective and fun. At the Bodymechanics School, we believe that a strong understanding of the human body is essential to being a successful massage therapist. You will find our course content balanced and relevant to your new career.

  • Our program offers a great combination of academic and hands-on training.

  • Teaching staff includes Naturopaths, Chiropractors, Licensed Massage Therapists and other health professionals.
